Anecdotal evidence suggests that on Friday and Saturday nights there's a wait for tables at both Molly's and Iron Hill.
My conclusion is that there's no parking problem, but rather a restaurant seating problem.
To that end, I propose that Council immediately form a Neighborhood Alehouse Seating Authority to address the root cause of this problem. I'm sure that the authority members will find a way to publicly fund a solution.

Richard, great post.
I, for one, will gladly accept resident taxpayer dollars to open and run (for the first few months, until the operation is self-funding) a new alehouse on land provided by the Borough for said purpose.
I just wanted to ensure that the borough is aware that its own residents will take up the call to action, as required.
My qualifications:
My alehouse experience is quite limited compared to other borough residents, as I only have approximately 9 years of alehouse patronization experience, but what I lack in experience (some other residents may have upwards of 60 years experience patronizing alehouses!), I do try to make up for in effort.
Solution: Just remove all of the tables on the first floor of Molly's and put a band there.
Again, more people who just love to criticize others who work hard to make this town a nice place to live. Molly's seems to be the target of a lot of frustrated people yet all that Molly's has done is open a great restaurant/bar that is family friendly and a great business model. Maybe one of you folks should step up and open something better in town and expose yourselves to your own worthless critiques. But, I'm sorry, I forgot that this is where all the people who say "shoulda, coulda, woulda" like to congregate. I know this will draw some great responses, but think about it folks, why don't you give it a try and open something worth while in town (as you see it). I'll wait for that answer for a long time.........................still waiting.................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
I have reformatted the following comment, which came from Solofloyd, so that the links appear completely.

speaking of help, here are several options for folks who want to help out around town.

Unless you are one of the people who you claim "work hard to make this town a nice place to live," I don't see how your post did anything other than perpetuate more of the indignities that your complaint references.
You assume that since other people haven't stepped up and done something better, that we (as a population) can't do better. That is just, on its face, an ignorant proposition. Could I bring a better restaurant to town? I don't know. But I wouldn't seriously consider it, either, as I have neither the funds nor desire to gather funds to attempt it. I don't begrudge anyone their successes. I hope Molly Maguire's is profitable and open for years to come. However, I have different aspirations that do not necessarily revolve around improving the lives of anonymous posters on small local weblogs.
In fact, I'm probably part of the solution you ask for. Richard saw a problem, I proposed a solution. That problem and solution may seem preposterous to you, but the idea that a small borough like Phoenixville needs a Parking Authority and Parking Garage seems preposterous to me. We all have out own viewpoints on these things.
Back to your diatribe: There are multiple ways to "make this town a nice place to live." Here are a few I can think of.
1. Like Molly Maguire's owners did, provide a service or employment opportunities.
2. Like the author of this blog does, which is to point out problems and issues for those in power (read: Borough Council) to ponder. Recognition of a problem is the first step in ensuring its resolution.
3. Like I am going to do. Which is to state that you may love Molly Maguires, and all it brings to town, but others don't. Case in point: Retail business owners on Bridge Street. I've talked to three different business owners that all state that the parking problem has gotten worse since Molly's opened. Don't get me wrong, I like the place, but just because you like it and I like it, doesn't mean everyone likes it.
All I propose to do is to state that, as a payer of property taxes in the borough, I do not want to see an indirect transfer of my property taxes to downtown businesses via a subsidized parking garage. Therefore, when people complain (like the ownership of Molly Maguires, Iron Hill, and the Columbia Hotel) that we need more parking, I state that I don't see the problem the same way. However, it is their right to attempt to solve the problem via private development. However, those businesses chose to petition Borough Council to create a Parking Authority and its logical conclusion, a Parking Garage. The fact that Borough Council authorized the Authority made the problem a contentious public issue.
Well said, Steven P. Beaver!!
Well said!
How many illegal aliens are working at Molly Maguires and the construction businesses of the owners mentioned here? Where do these people live? Is supporting the transformation of this borough into a sanctuary for illegal aliens who are not paying the piddling EIT taxes which go to this borough? Is that doing anything to help make this town a nice place to live?
Who knows if he has any illegal aliens working for him. Maybe you should do a report on that since you have so much insider information. Instead of guessing he has any illegal aliens working for him why don't you give us an exact number? Why? Because you can't. That statement is ridiculous and the fact that it is posted by Chicken shows the nature of what this blog is about. Just making some more inflammatory comments without backing them up. Steven, I don't mind the points that you bring to the table, but rather the people who make careless statements about other people without any proof and the fact that they are posted brings down your arguments a bunch of notches. I was reading on another blog where someone threatened Connor Cummings and Barry Cassidy by saying they better grow eyes in the backs of their heads. That stuff is ridiculous and you and everyone else should be angry that comments like that would even be entertained on these blogs. But if those comments were directed in your direction I bet the mood would change. The point is that these kinds of comments should not be posted because they are very destructive to our towns community efforts and could potentially be harmful to people if other people believe this misinformation that is posted. Making comments about Molly McGuires hiring illegal aliens is not a statement of fact but rather a statement to inflame. And posting it is just following along the same theme lines. Just stick with facts when making arguments and our blogging experiences could all be better. These kinds of statements are getting out of hand and need to be stopped. Facts please!
Keep it going. This is the best read in town. You "go getters" keep us folks amused (aaaaahaaaahaaa!).
