The Phoenix "Skips" the News

Phoenixville's 2008 proposed budget was presented to Council Tuesday night, November 13th.

To read our local paper, The Phoenix, you'd never know that.

Maybe it's because they didn't bother to send a reporter to cover the meeting.

on the bright side, it will spare us the typical plethora of overuses of the word plethora. I'm in for the first dollar if anyone else wants to contribute to buying a thesaurus. I've never seen such a lame excuse for a lack of collective vocabulary.

We need to have that news for the record so we can all remember and learn from the mistakes of this crummy-bling Messina/Digirolomo regime in its last desperate attempt to take your money while they sit nice and comfy. For it is in the very nature of things human that every act that has once made its appearance and has been recorded in the history of mankind stays with mankind as a potentiality long after its actuality has become a thing of the past. HA!

Dude, they had it covered. The editor said to make sure you cover the crap and the robbery downtown. The ace reporters heard this and though she said "the crepe" and "the robbery downtown". So instead of the intended single story of the budget you got 2 separate stores about a restaurant and a jewelry store.

This paper was a 'real' newspaper back when it was run by Col. H.H. Gilkyson and later his granddaughter - Neal Gilkyson Thorpe.

Then around 1980 it was sold to Ingersoll and started going downhill. Around 1990 it was sold again. This time to it's present owner Journal-Register where it continues its downhill journey.

And to top everything off - there is no other local choice - Journal Register owns 'em all!

Bring back the old Daily Republican.

Weird I saw the meeting on TV and saw Skippy there, was he there as a citizen or part of his job?

Blogger 9:05, I think the lead in said they didn't send a REPORTER to the meeting.

We're supposed to take that at face value, I believe.

Have you noticed their web pages at
http://www.phoenixvillenews.com/
Same style as all the other Journal Register papers. But the local news seems to not be up to date. Not as good or timely as the web pages of the Mercury or Daily Local.

Having just gotten a chance to see the Council meeting on Channel 22, I think that Skip's head just exploded -- following the budget portion was beyond confusing, although it does seem that enough happened that Skip should have filed SOME type of article.

Meanwhile, I hope Richard has sent his anaylsis as a Letter to the Editor -- I understood what was going on only after I read his portion. Too bad The Phoenix won't give Richard a Guest Editorial column -- he's the only person who has consistently shown that he can both analyze and explain what is going on with the budget.

Regarding the Phoenix, some of you maybe missing the ePaper. Scroll down and look on the left under "services". Click on "ePaper Login" - It is free for the time being. There you can get the paper in its entirety.

Yes its a business and they need to charge for it... what they will charge is yet to be seen...

Breuer should have a column, as a columnist he is very adept giving information not anticipated. Much more civil than Cassidy.
