And did you notice that to reply to any of the blogs you HAVE to have an Google/Blogger account? Or something called an "OPEN ID"?
If I can't comment without an account I don't want - I won't even bother reading it.
Sorry "Phoenix", but I won't be reading your blog anymore.
Skip Lawrence expressed his frustration with "Anonymous" posting during our podcast discussion on bloggery with Ken Buckwalter, Karen Johns and me.
We all expressed that we supported leaving the option open; looks like the powers-that-be at the paper agree with Skip.
I guess it will keep the paper's blogs "clean", so to speak.
I agree with Ed here. They've done a few things wrong and the blogger ID is yet another shot in the foot.
The big no-no is they've stopped the search engine spyders from indexing their website. The sad part about that is it actually hurts the town when people google P'ville and come up with three articles written elsewhere.
Yes, truly ashamed that a paper has resorted to censorship. The freedom to express thought and promote open and honest dialog is dying. I have fought to preserve that right for Americans;I may not have agreed what some have said; but I defended your right to say it. One step closer to Communism.
Mr. Breuer,
Attached, please find an e-mail sent to the editor, agould and young mbyrd of the Phoenix. I would have copied you, (but I do not have an address for you) and with that you would have been accused of being I. Again, I beg your forgiveness for the Phoenix's not having their facts straight.
Perhaps after reading what has now been posted for a few days as the header on your blog site:
The comments and posts on The Phoenix Files do necessisarily represents the thoughts or feelings of The Phoenix and/or PhoenixvilleNews.com ownership or management. The Phoenix and PhoenixvilleNews.com also reserve the right to delete any post. Any post which contains obsence language will be removed. Any questions or comments on this policy can be e-mailed to mbyrd@phoenixvillenews.com.
You might find it necessary to install or show the correct operation of Spell Checker on your staffs computers. Some of the remaining readers find it obscene that the quality of the journalism has decreased so; but we do love the effort.
As someone who has served in the Military to defend the freedom of speech, your First Amendment Right, I find it distasteful that a 'newspaper' would institute a practice where the flow of open and honest dialog would be hampered by censorship. I may not agree with what you have had to say, and vise-versa, but I have defended you to say it. One step closer to Communism, God help us all!
and the truth shall set you free
As of 1:07, they fired up the spell check...didn't read the sentence but fired up the spell check...
"The comments and posts on The Phoenix Files do necessarily represents the thoughts..."
There will soon be no Phoenix. All this vitriol is in vane.
The only writer left there besides Skip and an occasional freelancer is Dennis J Wright. IMHO There IS no Phoenix. You can find out more town info on these blogs than you can in the town newpaper! It has been driven into the ground.
Did y'all see this?
