Some details that I think need to be addressed regarding the potential Phoenixville–Great Valley train line:
Is the plan to run just between Phoenixville and Great Valley, or to have a connection to the R5 line?
Where will the stations in Phoenixville, Great Valley, and elsewhere be located?
What is the projected service area at each end or station (i.e., from what distance around each station are riders expected to originate or end their trips)?
How are riders at each station expected to travel between the station and their ultimate starting or ending points?
Who (i.e., what entity) will operate the train?
Is the line between Phoenixville and Great Valley single, double, or multiple track? How does that affect operations and schedules?
Is the line between Phoenixville and Great Valley electrified or not?
What sort of rolling stock (cars, locomotives) will be needed, how many of each?
Will the rolling stock be compatible or interchangeable with other commuter lines (such as SEPTA Regional Rail)?
What is the expected ridership, in terms of distinct persons and trips per workday, nonworkday?
What is the projected operating schedule?
What is the projected staffing (positions and numbers of persons in each) to run the train?
Will the existing track need to be rehabilitated? At what cost?
What physical facilities will be needed: stations, parking lots, turnarounds, maintenance yards or sheds, offices, etc.? At what cost?
What are the projected operating costs? To what extent will they be covered by fares?
What are the projected capital costs? What is the source of capital funds? To what extent will the capital costs be covered by fares?

Uh, I think that's what the 9 week TRID study is all about.
All great questions. Why don't you reach out and help answer them? I've seen you talk with Carlos many times, I bet he'd welcome it!
If you google earth" Lee blvd Malvern", you will see where the line terminates. Note that it ends closer to Great Valley High School, than the Great Valley Corporate center. The line has at least Two major Rd crossings, and goes over a 50 foot high bridge over Rt29 that was designed for freight, and has no safety railings on the side. There is a good chance that the line ends on private property in the industrial park on Lee blvd. Summery: a time consuming train ride that ends no where near the corporate center. How about contracting Septa for some extended bus service, and forget about the train.
Who is going to pay for all of this?
Great Valley High School - brilliant! All the illegal aliens can take the train from one of the rental properties in Phoenixville where they live with a dozen or so other close personal acquaintances and get picked up at the train stop after the McMansion moms drop their kids off at school. That at 3:30 after a day of cleaning house they can take the train back to good ol' P'Ville to do some dishwashing at whatever new bar has opened up on Bridge Street.
vivo, trabajo, juego
As they learned in Northern New Jersey, having a train station can really raise your property values!
Some very detailed information on the study came in todays mail. Mr. B you need to find someone that signed up for "Citizens for the train" to get the information.
To Anonymous at 1:28 PM Dec 8:
If you have information or you have a specific place to get it, why not just say so and contribute to a substantive discussion of the issues?
I have it in my hands, its 4 pages of info. I assume you could pick a copy up at the CDC.
Scope of work, broken out per week is included of the 9 week study.
The CDC is "seeking written comments" concerning the proposed 9 week study.
It is the intention that the study be privately funded.
It's actually more interesting tht I had thought initially. If you have a copier over there Mr. B, let me know, and I'll walk it over.
Yes, I can copy it. Please give me a call.
I've walked the rail line to Great Valley several times. Once they look at the cost of rehabbing the bridge over the Pickering Creek this project will die in a hurry.
