Reporting on the June 25, 2007 Council Meeting, G. E. Lawrence of The Phoenix writes:
“Henry Wagner (D-Middle) asked for a breakout of the $247,000 in such [allocated] costs applied to the sanitation budget.”
The printed publicly available version of the 2007 approved Borough budget lists the breakdown:
Legislative: $66,262.96
Executive: $48,407.21
Finance: $109,313.04
Public Works (Director): $19,354.37
Public Works (Mechanic): $3,676.76
Total allocation: $247,014.34
Wouldn’t this have been a question for last December, not for this June?

Only in phoenixville!!
While "Rip Van Wagner" may be mildly amusing wordplay, the worst thing about these numbers is that they are unjustifiable and unjustified after several presentations by the finance director and borough manager. The amounts spent on billing, payroll and other areas need some real trimming. Wagner and the others are at fault for allowing this fiscal foolishness. And he and the others just let this pass. Barry Cassidy is wrong about many things, but he is right to publicly question the competence of Nease and Digirolomo. While Wagner is not a problem you can do anything about this election cycle. Messina the hairless horseman is the real terror of our sleepy hollow. It is time to bring him down off his high horse.
There are too many references to the wrong author here. Clifford Irving - perpetuator of the great hoax about sums of money who thought he could get away with it because his target would be too afraid to speak out - is the more appropriate reference than is Washington Irving. Keep on keeping quiet about the obvious, Phoenixville. Keeping letting Dick Breuer get up and do the speak up for you while you are being scammed out of your tax dollars and fees.
